We are moving
We are moving...
To our new purpose built facility in early 2021
To our valued customers, we are moving. We are relocating to 11 Duthy Street, Unley.
Work has started on our purpose-built facility, the site allows the Kirkbright Seafood business to continue to grow as well as significantly enhance our product handling and shopping experience. The new location will offer off street parking, significantly better access at peak times as well as being wheelchair and pram friendly.
Covid-19 has allowed us to review all parts of our business and our model moving forward, thus allowing us to develop a model that is to be sustainable and profitable for many years to come. With that we are focusing on our core business and what we do and strive to do well which is fresh fish and seafood. This means majority of condiments, gourmet items and non-seafood related products will no longer be in stock from November 30 2020. A select range of popular products will be. Our prawn dip, tartare sauce will continue to be handmade on site with premium ingredients. A range of seafood related frozen products will also continue, examples include sweet potato and Kirkbright shoestring fries.
Whilst it will be very disappointing and inconvenient for some customers, the decision has also been made to cease operations of a commercial kitchen moving forward. This means all meals, fresh pasta and the like will also cease on November 30 2020. Increasing operational costs such as rent, labour along with our decision to continue using the highest quality standard of ingredients has seen our meal range fall into an area in which has become unprofitable for the Kirkbright Seafood business model. Along with this, competitors in this space of retail has increased, cheaper ingredients over quality, where these types of meals are sold (large retailers) has forced our decision to not move forward with a commercial kitchen operating beyond November 2020. We are happy to take orders for those wanting to buy in larger quantities prior to our kitchen ceasing operations. These orders need to be placed on or before the Friday the 13th of November 2020.
The good news is we will be launching the “Kirkbright Kitchen Cookbook”. This book will have all our current cooked meals along with a range of seafood mains, entrees, tips and tricks for getting your seafood meal perfect. Our kitchen staff and chef have been working many long hours in the kitchen cooking, carrying out meal trials so as to allow the same traditional flavour for servings of 4-6 people for you to cook at home. Step by step detailed recipes have been written to make the favourites easy to replicate. Whilst we understand convenience is a major factor in our cooked ready to eat meals we wanted to offer the recipes and a range of other great seafood recipes in a cookbook so at least the amazing flavour of our meals doesn’t disappear completely from your dinner tables.
A smooth transition has been planned and a simultaneous move will occur in February or early March 2021. A specific date has not been locked in due to the unknown availability of some specific equipment which comes from overseas. As stated the Kirkbright Seafood business is focusing on its core business of fresh fish and seafood. We will continue our focus on our core values and being one of SA’s best quality, trustworthy and consistent fresh fish and seafood retail and wholesale outlets.
If there is any questions or clarification around the move, please ask our friendly staff in store. If they are unable to answer your questions whilst in store please leave your name and mobile number and I will call back within 24 hours to discuss or clarify. Our customers are what keeps us and our people in jobs, you are extremely important to us and I give my commitment in answering any queries or questions you may have about our exciting move early 2021.
